Virgin Block 2001 Shiraz
Wine tasted completely blind
Closed nose that’s difficult to extract aromas from but it
does show some chocolate and subtle spice.
The closed down unyielding nature of this wine flows through
to the palate, its about as tight as a new cars motor but like a good car you
can tell from the test drive when its got the goods, and this wine falls into
that category. It’s well made and proportioned, its medium weight but has a little
class and elegance about itself.
As the wine open up, it does show good intensity of spice,
pepper and chocolate, all in all a savoury package with good length. Rated as
Recommended now, many people would probably rate it higher and no doubt in a
couple of years it will improve. Its average *** value at $20.
