Neagles Rock 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon –
April 03
Wine tasted blind
The nose of this wine is extremely closed despite having two
hours to breathe in the glass but there are subtle black olives, and lightly
sweet perfumed coffee essence.
Well made wine with a good balanced structure with creamy
tannins and well judged acid to balance the mid weight fruit that gives a
harmonious impression to the wine. Savoury coffee and not quite sweet
blackcurrant fruit together with dusty oak and mint provides an acceptable flavour
profile to this refined and subtle drop.
Rated as Recommended with *** for value, I was surprised to
find this was from Clare when it was unmasked. Lovers of subtle Cabernet should
give this a whirl.
